The Bather ~ Maybe she is swiming or showering or washing her hair. This ceramic wall tile is part of my ongoing exploration of quick, gestural line work on clay. It holds both a burst of energy and a quiet restraint, captured in a cool blue-grey tone with the imprint of the canvas giving a soft depth to the surface.
To elevate and display the work, each piece is mounted on brass and held with small hammered brass claws, reminiscent of jewelry.
These first editions mark the beginning of an ongoing series of tile paintings, where ceramic and drawing meet in sculptural relief. Each is one of it's kind.
